For the Hero of Canton

A friend of mine was talking about dressing up as Jayne Cobb, and we got to talking about me knitting a Jayne hat. Well, it took me a while, but I got it done! I made a pattern for a Jayne hat.

As a Christmas present to all you Browncoats, I've decided to post it here!

Jayne Cobb Hat Pattern

Wool-ease Super bulky Weight
Size 11 needles
guage: 2.5 stitches per inch

Made for a head 22 to 24 inches around

Cast on 56 stitches in orange and join

Work 1 by 1 rib for 3 rows
Then knit 2.5 in of orange (3.5 in orange total, 13 rows)

Length of hat body = 8 in

knit 6 rows yellow
Begin decreases
row 1: k2tog, k6, 7 times around
row2: knit
row3: k2tog, k5, 7 times around
row4: knit
row5: k2tog, k4, 7 times around
row6: knit
row7: k2tog, k3, 7 times around
row8: knit
row9: k2tog, k2, 7 times around
row10: knit
row11: k2tog, k1, 7 times around
row12: k2tog, 7 times around

Pull end through remaining stitches

Ear Flaps

Placed slightly towards the back of the hat.
Pick up 15 stitches
Knit 17 rows stockinette
K2tog, K2tog, knit till 4 st remain, SSK, SSK
P2tog, purl across, P2tog
K2tog, knit across, K2tog
Repeat last two rows until 3 stitches remain
Cut yarn, pull end through last 3 st, tie, and leave end to hang.
Weave in end at top.

Make a pompom and attach it at the top, weave in any last ends, and you're done!
