Spotlight on Athaclena

Athaclena's etsy site is at http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5015132
She makes cards and jewelery. She describes herself as a 25 year old Israeli who is married and has a daughter. Reading and science fiction and been interests of hers since she was little. (That's always a plus in my book. She even mentions the borg in a listing!)
If she had to choose a favorite thing to make it would be her abstract papercuts.

I really like her geeky resistor jewelery http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=5223851 and her duh! Valentine's day card http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=5206985 .

I got mentioned on Purple Papaya!

This is exciting! :) Check it out at http://purplepapaya.net/features/

The site lists Etsy sellers who feature other sellers.
I'm still accepting applications to be featured here so if you're a newbie with cool stuff to sell and accept multiple forms of paymet just send me a convo or email.

Blanket Update

The latest addition to my blanket is a small rectangle knitted on size 8 needles with yarn spun on a drop spindle. The purple is 70% merino and 30% tencel. The white is wool of some kind that I used to test my drop spindle. The drop spindle is fun to use, but I like my wheel more. I did like spinning at the airport while I waited for my flight.

Spotlight on Nuovovita

Nouvovita's shop can be found at http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5022592

Nouvovita has been creating jewelery for about 2 years. She tried something artistic and it turned out really good. She loves to doodle with ink pens and to wire wrap gemstones like this one: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=5264758 .

Her favorite material to work with is gemstones. She puts a lot of effort into her art with the beadwork pieces taking the longest time, 8-12 hours.

The work of 4 different artists is available in Nouvovita's shop.
There are so many things to choose from there!
Some of my favorites are:

Venting about Paypal

I am so mad right now! I've already used paypal to accept payments, so I have an account balance. I went to spend some of the money in my account and it wouldn't let me. Their site is just so ridiculous. So one of the options to actualy let me spend my money is to get a credit card with them, but they won't let me do that. Oh, can you guess what their reason is!? It is because I don't have a land line telephone. I need to enter a phone number and my cell phone isn't good enough for them. Soooo I thought it was just the website being stupid and hunted around for their phone number and then called.
First I talked to an automated system with options that did not apply to me. I pressed 0 a lot and had a lot of invalid entried but managed to talk to a man who english was his second language, he kept repeating himself and calling me ma'am. He also didn't seem to know much about paypal. He just couldn't believe that my phone number wouldn't match my zip code. He just couldn't believe that that was my main phone and only phone. So he transfered me to someone else.
At lease she knew english, but she didn't seem to care and since it was a credit card issue transfered me to another automated system with options that don't apply to me. If I wasn't able to even fill out the form to apply for a credit card then what makes them think that I'll have a credit card number! So I was somehow able to talk to a person again and she spoke english too, but she worked for the bank and not paypal and couldn't help me. Why did they transfer me to people who couldn't help me repeatedly!
They obviously don't care about customer service or even getting new customers. So please, don't sign up for paypal; they won't care if you do or not anyway.

Etsy Shop Spotlight Happybee

First up is Happybee ( http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5001567 ), started on November 16, 2006. This shop has felt needle cases, bookmarks, wall hangings, small bags, and a quilt!
The artist behind these is from Italy and loves to quilt and sew. Happybee would love to make a career out of this. She does her best on all her creations and makes things that she would love to have.

My favorite things in Happybee's shop are:
Simply Elegant blue zippered pouch
http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=5215335
I really like the fabrics used in this!

and A daisy in my life quilt
http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=5042686
Quilts take so much time and effort and the flowers on this are adorable.

Knitting with Corn

These pictues are of my latest square for the blanket. They are made of hand spun knitted ingeo, knitted with size 2 needles. I was trying out different stitches and some cables with out a cable needle.

The blanket

I'm making a blanket. I'm spinning lots of different kinds of fibers and then knitting them up and putting them together. Last night I added two more sections to my blanket. This is a really fun project and I'll post updates on it as I go.
